Journey to Success. . The Great Exploration

On a beautiful morning, in the City of Butuan on the month of July 2011, started our journey forth to discover one of Butuan’s precious delicacies. Our journey was made possible by the help of our beloved school, the “Butuan Central Elementary School” and our supportive Principal 1, Mr. Rey C. Collado.

Our journey was happy and at the same time, quite challenging. In our adventurous trip, we learned many facts about  Creative Niche Designs and Crafts, we experienced lots of things as we go along the way. We even enjoyed our time touring around with our coach who, endlessly guided us along the way, Mrs. Ophelia C. Balla.

Our team consisting namely of: Gwyneth Amanda Yu Tiamco, Lady Carmela Pila, Tanya Angela Pegarro, Christine Mayuga, Dynasty Chen, Charles G. Ostrea, Krista Dennise Balla, Jenny Louise Mission and Mrs. Ophelia C. Balla went to our assigned project. We went there to interview and search some of the people who are related to this said project. To begin our enormous journey, we started to our first destination. Our first destination was in Dumalagan, where Creative Niche Designs and Crafts originally came from.

We interviewed its Owner, Mrs. Leah Medado to know her advocacy and future plans for Niche, and especially of course, its main root by giving support to orphanages of people who are in need. As we interviewed her opinions about this, we were glad to know that it was purely for the benefits of the poor and made a wonderful discovery of where it all began.

The products they made are truly turned into beautiful accessories that could contribute a lot for the environment and many more. One of their finest products are called “Borloloys” in which, it is used as an accessory if you feel the need to add up your style.

This is one of her creations, it is called "Lapak" it is made out of  recycled oyster shells..

These are her souvenir items.. These are "small Bayongs".. Aren't they cute ?

This is Manang, one of their workers, who is expert in making banig. She taught us how to make banig into a belt

When we got inside her house we saw these things. These materials are the one that she use in making accessories called "Borloloys".

These are some her of her Manobo Materials.

After several hours..They finally finished these products. They just have to put the ribbons and designs together to make a beaded "sinamay" necklace for the Department of Tourism Surigao del Norte Provincial Office.

The necklaces are put together for packaging then here are the finish necklaces. So pretty !
